Giving 5 stars to a well deserved school! My daughter is happy to be attending this school she loves all her teachers she had there since last year. She is being more challenged and learning more than she has ever had in a public school. Love the variety of classes, they provide foreign language classes and learning how to play either piano or guitar as well.
With great leadership, the rest follows! Mrs. Cox is new to AMS and I have witnessed tremendous growth w/ communication and follow-through. My 2nd grader started kinder there and everyone compliments on how advance he is academically. This campus is surrounded by nice neighborhoods and has well-mannered students. As an educator, I trust AMS Avondale with my son’s education.
Well, the staff was friendly, the tour was good. Some parents we talk to whose kids attend, they are still on the fence about the school.
Decided to enroll the kids, and they had to do a placement test. The tour lady told us, that no matter how they did on the placement test, the placement was more towards if the student was eligible for advance placement grade. That turned out to be false . The placement is used to even downgrade your student to the level of their placement. Now, when we asked the details about the test, they weren't transparent (go figure), we were just told the percentage of score. Once again, just like AZ schools, if its too good to be true, it probably is.
The school is unorganized. It feels like something is always going wrong. I will not be placing my children in after school sports and clubs next year. This is the 3rd time that one or both my kids are “forgotten” about for their practice or club even though we talked to the dance teacher already.
Ms. Camacho is always so pleasant at the front desk. Having polite front desk staff is imperative! We love our kids school and Mrs. Cox is such an awesome principle!
Good tour experience. I have had two tours of the school in the previous years and the front desk was not very pleasant. My last tour this month the front desk was very pleasant and very helpful. It appears there has been a significant and meaningful change in administration and in staff training. It does appear to have a rigorous curriculum (which I appreciate) from k-3, which is similar to BASIS. I am curious to see how this actually works out starting end of 3rd and getting it to 4th grade.
Love AMS. Our kiddos are a little above grade level, and the school has the sense of identifying and implementing more challenging material, so they stay engaged. No instances of bulling or "mean" peers (so far) and the front desk staff are AMAZING. The school has the sense of implementing mask policies to keep or kids safe -- after all its the academies of math and SCIENCE. Super glad about our decision to have our kids go here. Thank you, AMS
This is by far the best school my son has attended. He is VERY smart & this schools holds him to that standard. He is exceeding in every subject & WE couldn’t be more happier. They keep us up to date on EVERYTHING & try to include us in everything possible. Thank you AMS-Avondale
